Názorové a komentujúce príslovky
Existuje niekoľko prísloviek a príslovkových výrazov, ktoré nám hovoria o pohľade alebo názore rozprávajúceho na nejakú činnosť, alebo komentujú danú činnosť. Tieto príslovky sú od ostatných prísloviek odlišné, pretože nám nehovoria, ako sa činnosť stala. Komentujúce a názorové príslovky modifikujú celé vedľajšie vety, nie len jednotlivé slovesá, príslovky alebo prídavné mená. Neexistuje žiadny zásadný rozdiel medzi názorovými a komentujúcimi príslovkami, len v ich umiestnení vo vete. Veľa prísloviek, ktoré sa používajú ako názorové príslovky, môžu byť použitých ako komentujúce príslovky, avšak v niektorých prípadoch je jedna príslovka bežnejšia, ako druhá.
Umiestnenie vo vete
Názorové príslovky sa umiestňujú na začiatku, alebo zriedkavo na konci vety. Zvyčajne sú od zvyšku vety oddelené čiarkou. Komentujúce príslovky sa umiestňujú pred hlavné sloveso, pokiaľ nie je použité sloveso "to be", kedy sa umiestňujú pred alebo za slovesom. V niektorých prípadoch sa komentujúce príslovky umiestnené pred hlavné sloveso tiež oddelia od zvyšku vety čiarkami, hoci vo väčšine prípadov to tak nie je. V príkladoch uvedených nižšie sa názorové príslovky a komentujúce príslovky vo vetách uvádzajú na správnych miestach. Pokiaľ je vetné umiestnenie neobvyklé, strojené, či príliš formálne pre hovorový jazyk, je označené hviezdičkou.
